EARLVILLE, Ia. - After a solid performance at last weekend's Mac Tools U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster driver Lee Callaway and car owner/tuner Tom Conway will be looking to win their second straight on the divisional level during this weekend's Division 5 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Tri-State Raceway in Earlville, Ia. Callaway and the Skull Shine/Knoll Gas Motorsports backed team enter the event second in Division 4 standings, and can tie points leader Spencer Massey with a win this weekend.
Callaway, from Baytown, Texas, is encouraged heading into this weekend after posting career best numbers last weekend in Indy and a win two weeks prior in Topeka, Kan.
"We're making steady progress with the car," said Callaway. "Tom and the team are working really hard to continually improve the car. We got the car back into the low .30's in Indy, so hopefully we can build on that."
"We have three more races we can claim towards the division points," Callaway continued. "We need to win at one of them to tie Spencer. Hopefully we can get that win this weekend, then go head to head with Spencer in Oklahoma."
Qualifying begins on Friday for the alcohol cars with two more sessions on Saturday. Final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday. Stay tuned to InsideTopAlcohol.com for the latest news in alcohol racing.
