Phil Burkart smoked the tires on his first Friday pass, but plowed to a solid 4.821 on his final Friday pass to position himself in the No. 12 spot with two runs remaining on Saturday.
"On the first pass, we were part of the vast majority by not making it to the end, so I wasn't too worried about that," Burkart said. "We wanted to come back and run a little better than we did on the late run, but going A-to-B and getting a solid number on the board was the important thing. We're back in a CSK market for the first time in a long time, and we had a lot of our CSK friends with us today. It was good to put a good lap on the board with them here. We'll do our best to put a couple of good runs on the board tomorrow."
