CLERMONT, Ind. -- Antron Brown and Angelle Sampey ended the second day of action 10th and 13th, respectively, in the Pro Stock Motorcycles line up.
In the Ringers Gloves Pro Bike Battle, Brown took out Sampey in the opening round, but he failed to get by Chip Hines in the semifinals of the special race for top qualifiers.
While Brown moved around Sampey on the time sheet, both dropped a few positions going into the final day of qualifying on Sunday.
Brown used a 7.096-second pass at 184.95 mph in the first round of the Ringers Gloves Pro Bike Battle to not only beat Sampey, but also move around her in the order. However, he couldn't parlay that success into a win over Ellis in the semifinals.
"It was disappointing to not go farther in the Ringers event," said Brown. "Also, we ended up sliding from eighth to 10th, which was not especially pleasing. We'll just have to come back strong tomorrow to help get ready for Monday."
Sampey had a couple of solid 7.13-second runs on Saturday, but she dropped from sixth to 13th.
"Obviously, we need to be quicker on Sunday," she offered. "The goal has to be for both Antron and me to end up in the top half of the field."
Brown 10th, Sampey 13th
