WHAT A GREAT ENDING TO A GREAT YEAR OF DRAG RACING. I think the NHRA deserves a big high five for providing the framework for [IMHO] the best year of racing in the modern era. We've gotten past the distaste of the countdown and the controversy of 1000' racing, multi car teams, and 4 wide racing. And come out the other end. No matter how you feel about these issues or how Graham light and company handled them you gotta give credit where credit is due. This year NHRA gave us 23 highly organized and exciting races at a fair price. In my mind thats no easy task. Look at the bullsh-t that Nascar gave its fans in Phoenix the other day. And yes i do blame Nascar because they do accept that crap from their drivers cause it sells tickets. But drag racing is about racing not fighting and the NHRA sets the tone. Credit also goes to the drivers and teams. And not least of all the fans. I was lucky enough to make it to 3 races this year and i want to thank the NHRA for some great days of racing. My only complaint is that i drank some of that vile Full Throttle :)

I still don't care for the Countdown and I still don't like 1,000 feet, but this past wknd was one of the best races I've ever been to. NHRA is still a pretty damn good bang for your buck. My hats are off to them for putting on a good show with plenty of drama!

I drank a sample of Full Throttle at the Vegas race and I had indigestion all day. That stuff is truly disgusting.
Bring on Mellow Yellow....

Full Throttle, Way better than Red Bull.

Plus NASCAR Recently has put on borefest after borefest after borefest to the point they throw a caution for no reason but to try to shuffle the deck and even that fails.

The countdown made it dramatic. Before the countdown they were doing the math and crowning champions in September.

I agree with Randy's statement and I applaude NHRA for a decent year.

The Countdown definately showed that sometimes if you have a dominant car all year, the points reset shouldn't matter.

All leaders going into the Countdown either continued right through (AB and AJ) or just barely lost (Capps)

Thankfully it didn't create artificial excitement.

Yes, I agree. I remember back in the day when the Snake and Force would have it cliched by Labor day so I can't complain that the Count Down hasn't been good for the sport. But is it doing what it was designed to do? Attract more media attention to the sport? yes some. Has made it more exciting for NHRA fans? Absolutely!

Fixed it for ya. ;)

Thanks Randy, I love what the Countdown has done for the sport. Every Pomona Fall race is definitely exciting.

unless you are interested in who actually wins the race I guess...'cause that sure didn't seem to matter to anybody on the NHRA broadcast I watched

Personally, I was upset that Brandon Bernstein didn't get more credit for winning the final race. I'd have liked to see a look at the starting like after the win!

same with the cruzer, they both picked the worst race to win as far as
tv time and recognition - they both gave good interviews.

would have liked to see the starting line too after brandon's win - lot's of
their eyeballs connecting with antron's group(everyone else in attendance
except for one team);)

Brandon has not gotten very much attention in the last half of the season. No doubt the most improved car and without a doubt the most improved driver. His reaction times are light years from where they were in the past. It seems brandon woke up suddenly.
