<P> ELKHART, Ind. (July 30, 2008) - Terry McMillen is riding a wave of emotion. Just before McMillen took his Amalie Oil Top Fuel Dragster for a winning ride in Grand Bend he watched his Amalie Oil InstiGator Funny Car team, driven by Paul Noakes and tuned by Les Mellows, make its way to the winners circle. The funny car win ended an eleven year drought. The top fuel win marked McMillen's third win in the past 11 races.
"This sport is such a roller coaster," McMillen said. "I wouldn't trade the ride for anything, I can promise you that."
McMillen hopes the mid-season win will be enough to put his team back in the championship hunt. "I'm sure we've been counted out more than once," McMillen added. "But, if we can stay consistent over the next few races and maybe win three out of four down the stretch, who knows what can happen. I know we spent the week buying parts and getting ready to mix it up in Martin."
The Torco Race Fuels Northern Nationals will also mark other excitement for McMillen. Kelvin Locklear and Rob Richardson from CMT's Trick My Truck television series will attend and IHRA race for the second time this season. Rob, Kelvin, Terry and Paul Noakes will participate in several special autograph session, including a 1PM Saturday session at the Wolverine display on the Midway.
"These guys are a lot of fun and they bring a lot of excitement to our events," McMillen said. "Having a chance to hang out with Gail at Wolverine with Rob and Kelvin is a show all by itself."
Trick My Truck cast members are scheduled to attend several IHRA races this season to promote the new vertical website at MyTruck.CMT.com and to promote the Terry McMillen Trick My Crew sweepstakes where a lucky winner will get an expense paid trip and become a part of McMillen's crew for the IHRA World Finals.
"We certainly have some of the best partners in the business," McMillen said. "From Andy Bornstein at Amalie and Mark Adelizzi at Flatout Gaskets or Darrell at Jet Tape and even Roy "the Pope" Griffith - we want to do the best for all of our partners. They deserve our best. We couldn't chase this dream without them."
