Bertsch looking for continued success in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. - On the heels of a semifinal finish at last month's IHRA Spring Nationals in Rockingham, N.C., IHRA Torco's CompetitionPlus.com Pro Stock driver Bob Bertsch and his Rislone Engine Treatment backed team are looking for more of the same during this weekend's Skull Shine Sooner Nationals at Tulsa Raceway Park. Bertsch used last weekend's World Ford Challenge as a test session for this weekend's event in his 2007 Ford Mustang.

Bertsch, of Willis, Mich., feels the key to his team's improvement is making laps down the track in his new 2007 Rick Jones Mustang that is powered by a Jon Kaase engine.

"We didn't have a bad weekend at the World Ford Challenge," said Bertsch. "We qualified fourth, then spun the tires in the first round. It was a tricky track, and from everything that I have heard, we won't have to deal with that this weekend in Tulsa. I hear they have made it into a very nice facility."

"We've had a little work done on the motor since Rockingham and we've made some changes to the car," Bertsch continued. "Hopefully with a good track we can put the power to the ground and go after them. Hopefully we can go some rounds again like we did in Rockingham and make a good showing for Rislone, Bar's Leaks, Share Capital Wealth Management and Ram Clutches. It all starts with making a good first run, and hopefully our test last week put us in position to do that."

Qualifying begins on Friday with two more sessions on Saturday. Final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday.
