LAS VEGAS (Oct. 29) – Kenny and Brandon Bernstein experienced a rare opportunity to see their name in lights on the Las Vegas Strip over ACDelco Nationals weekend.
On the competition side at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway their Budweiser/Lucas Oil team made a strong qualifying effort but was unable to make the gain in point standings they had hoped for.
Driver Brandon Bernstein was the No. 2 qualifier for the ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals posting a 4.522/329.58.
In the opening round of eliminations, Bernstein defeated David Baca, 4.549/323.97, to 4.585/320.66.
“We were concentrating on doing the best job we could,” said Bernstein. “We were excited to get by first round.”
In the second round of race day action, Bernstein suffered a hole shot loss to Rod Fuller, 4.564/326.79 to Fuller’s winning 4.579/327.03.
Bernstein is third in POWERade point standings, 100 points out of the lead.
In Saturday’s Budweiser Shootout, Bernstein faced rival Doug Kalitta in the first round. Both
drivers lost traction, but Kalitta was able to recover first and crossed the finish line with a 5.669/317.42.
In addition to a weekend of racing, Brandon joined his father Kenny in a Friday night autograph session at ESPN Zone at New York -New York Hotel & Casino. In support of the promotion, New York - New York and ESPN Zone ran graphics on their marquees on The Strip.
“We treasure all the honors that have been bestowed upon us through the years,” said Kenny, “but we never thought we’d see our name in lights on The Strip in Las Vegas . That was very special to us.”
