I am disappointed but not entirely shocked with everything that is going on, however the timing is weird. Over three months away yet being cancelled now. There are several events going on with limited spectators over the next few months. The Phoenix Open will have a cap of 5,000 at the end of the month (normally 150-200k show up each day) NASCAR/PIR just announced last week limited attendance again for the March race (I think it was 10,000 in November) even the Coyotes are letting I think 2,500 people in (which is their normal crowd size) into the arena each game. I am bad at estimating crowd sizes but I would imagine at least 10,000 people show up to the nationals each day. My theory to what happened is the tribe knows they will have to enforce limited capacity for the race mix that with only two days of pro racing and knowing how they operate, if they cant make close to the profit they are used to or expect they would rather not run it, which is exactly what they ended up doing.
