[coverattach=1]Angie Smith meets Karen Stoffer in SuperNationals opening round
Angie Smith continued her consistent performances Saturday, posting a
6.998-second qualifying time at 182.75 mph to claim the 12th starting position for Sunday’s NHRA SuperNationals at Raceway Park.
Smith, riding Karl and Kim Klement’s Coffman Tank Trucks Buell, also added a 7.029-second effort in her second run that came in warmer, more humid
conditions. She races Karen Stoffer (No. 5, 6.901 at 191.70) in the first
round. “We are running consistently, and that is important for us,” Smith said.
“We are looking forward to race day. We want to do well. The crew is
doing a good job . . . and we will be ready.” Smith also hopes add points to her Full Throttle Drag Racing Series total and move closer to her goal of a place in the top 10. She’s 12th, 58 points out of the final qualifying position for the Countdown to the Championship with six races remaining.
