Mooresville, N.C., August 1, 2011 – The NHRA’s Full Throttle Drag Racing Series’ annual Western Swing will conclude this weekend with the O’Reilly Northwest Nationals in Seattle, Wash. For the third consecutive week, competitors will have to adjust their cars to a new set of conditions, with the Pro Stock category again having to walk the fine line between high horsepower and available traction.

Coming off their third win of the season, Greg Anderson and the Summit Racing team come into the event feeling confident, having just scored their third win of the season in Sonoma a few days ago. However, they know they will have to be ready to deal with another tough field of “factory hot rods” in the Pacific Northwest if they are to achieve their goal of consecutive victories.

“We had two great cars in Sonoma, and came extremely close to having both Summit Racing Pontiacs in the final, which is as good as it gets,” said Anderson. “We still ended up with the trophy, so it turned out to be a great day, giving us a lot of momentum heading into Seattle, with all the credit going to my guys. This KB Racing crew is just operating at full song right now, doing a fantastic job of racing and I have no reason to believe they won’t continue to do so this weekend in Seattle.

“Although we’re feeling pretty good at the moment, unfortunately this class will not let you get too confident. The competition is too stiff, and it’s going to be another battle royal at Pacific Raceways, and we’re looking forward to it. Coming off our win in Sonoma, we’ll have that extra little intangible of added confidence, so we’ll have to see if that will help carry us through.”

Located in the Seattle suburb of Kent, Pacific Raceways offers spectacular views of Mt. Rainier and conditions guaranteed to produce horsepower, with cool temperatures and trees throughout the property. It has been a good track for the KB Racing team, with Anderson and teammate Jason Line totaling four wins in five final round appearances, including two wins and a runner-up finish in the last three years. Even so, the four-time champion knows that to defend his win, both he and his talented team will have to be on their game from the moment qualifying starts on Friday afternoon.

“Pacific Raceways is another one of the tracks that suits the way we run our Summit Racing Pontiacs,” said Anderson. “We like racing in good conditions where we can run fast, and Seattle is just a quirky track with a lot of trees around it so we can make plenty of horsepower, but you have to be careful how you apply it, because you don’t quite have the surface we had last week in Sonoma. It’s another challenge, but that’s what makes the Western Swing so unique.

“In three consecutive weeks, we will have raced on three completely different tracks under widely differing conditions. From Denver to Sonoma was like night and day, and we’ll change about half a page going up to Seattle. That’s where the crew chiefs earn their money, and I consider mine to be the best in the business, so I’m very confident we’re going to go up there and adapt to the conditions and get the job done.”
