<P>MARTIN, Mich. (August 6, 2008) - For the second time in a row and for the third time this season, Terry McMillen has made it to the final round of an IHRA Nitro Jam national event. The U.S. 131 Motorsports Park marked the third time this season McMillen raced points leader Spencer Massey for the win. Massey holds a 2-1 advantage over McMillen.
"Seems like Spencer and I like racing each other in the finals," McMillen said. "We both want a good side-by-side final. We couldn't make it happen last Sunday, but I'd love to meet him again in the final to see if we can even the score."
The weekend started strong for the Amalie Oil team when McMillen raced to the "Last Man Standing" award on Friday night, earning an additional 5 points and the provisional #1 qualifying position. The 4.659 elapsed time at 316.01 m.p.h was McMillen's low e.t. of the season.
McMillen's stellar performance continued in the first round of eliminations when he recorded the low elapsed time of eliminations with a 4.672 second at 309.98 m.p.h performance. "I think we've got a handle on how to make this car run consistent. We're looking at finishing the season strong and we'll see where things end up."
McMillen's only flaw of the weekend came during the final round when the car spun the tires shortly after the hit. "We were just a little too aggressive early for that part of the track at that particular time of day," McMillen said. "Paul Smith, Mitch King and Spencer Massey made the right call and they deserve the win. I'm sure we'll see him again before the season is over. Hopefully we can return the favor."
The next stop for the Hoosier Thunder Motorsports team is the Sooner Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma August 22-24. "We can't wait to get to Tulsa," McMillen said. "We've got a lot of fun things planned with Trick My Truck cast members that will be announced in the next week of so. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again."
