Well it sounds like AR is done with the NHRA, definitely miss his insight and ability to deliver the product head and shoulders over most!

not sure if The NHRA cutting cost was a factor in this, but i always wondered why Alan had to travel to every race, when current Technology would allow him to announce the race from his couch at home

If your job was to travel to all the racetracks in the NHRA season and be there for all rounds of Nitro and alcohol, Pro Stock and Pro Mod, etc,

would you say "nah, I'll stay on the couch at home"?

Wow!... Didn't see or feel this coming! Met him, talked with him at the races and really enjoyed his professional input into each race. There is going to be a void in the broadcast for me for some time. Obviously he's decided to retire from the road that we as fans all are envious. Hope he succeeds in whichever path he takes from here out!

Alan is irreplaceable. The classiest interview I ever saw was when Force came into the tower and sat down with Alan for a few mins in Vegas. After the long time away from the track I’m sure we all wanted Alan to press for answers and more info. Alan let Force say what he wanted to say and didn’t push a bit. Exceptional work.

You will be missed sir, you will be missed 😥

Wait, first OnlyFan is gone, now Alan is gone too?

WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON???

LOL
I think NHRA grew weary of trying to read Alan's red font.... :D

Alan's been the voice of the NHRA to many of us. They say anyone can be replaced but this guy won't be. Even though we've never met I hope I can speak for everyone when I say to Alan "All the best, my friend. It's been a hell of a ride."

A sad day to lose Alan behind the microphone. Tuning in to hear him call the sportsman classes was so enjoyable. Dumb choice by NHRA not to remew his contract.
He didn't exactly seem broken up about it. "I've been on the road for 30 years". Either pay me this much or I'm done. Good for him, he will be missed and I wish him all the best.

Huge loss!! One of my favorite parts of any national event was when Alan ,microphone in hand, got up on the wall and thanked all the fans in attendance for coming to the race. It just reinforced the feeling that we , the fans, were valued and respected. You won’t see that any where else. Alan always did a great job and I will miss his voice and presence at the track. All the best to you Alan…..

He is head and shoulders above anyone else on the NHRA.TV broadcasts in my humble opinion.

This is NHRA's loss.

Article said hoping for new information before Bradenton.

I'd be surprised if he's not on the mike for the PRO event.
If he is sick of the travel (which I certainly understand) why would he go to Bradenton? Unless they pay him a good salary plus travel for the weekend. Anyway, it looks like they already have their announcing crew.

I am a big fan of the tech talk/Q&A sessions he occasionally did in the pits for the fans at Pomona (and I'm sure at other tracks). Same for the tech videos he has done that frequently show up on Nitromater. He has been a very worthy successor to the great Steve Evans, Dave McClelland, and Bob Frey. This is a big loss and I will miss his expert commentary at the Pomona events. I always learned a lot about drag racing just listening to him from the stands.
