BAYTOWN, TEXAS (March 21, 2011) — The American Drag Racing League (ADRL) returns to Royal Purple Raceway on March 25-26 for the first event of the highly-anticipated 2011 ADRL Tour, CarSafe Dragpalooza VII presented by LenMar Motorsports.
With increased purse payouts for each race, a new World Championship format with major championship payouts and greatly expanded live online broadcasts, there is considerable excitement surrounding the world’s premier eighth-mile drag racing league.
Dragpalooza has been an annual destination on the ADRL Tour and it has consistently brought a sellout crowd to Royal Purple Raceway as well.
In 2010, winners at Dragpalooza VI included Frankie Taylor (Pro Extreme), Rickie Smith (Pro Nitrous), Billy Glidden (Extreme 10.5), Travis Davis (Pro Extreme Motorcycle), John Montecalvo (Extreme Pro Stock) and Justin Penton (Pro Junior Dragster). Taylor and Penton are both Houston-area natives.
The gates open at 9 a.m. Friday, with the first round of qualifying set to begin at 11 a.m. On Saturday, the racing will begin at 11 a.m. with the final qualifying session. The first round of eliminations starts at 3 p.m., with a special jet-car and monster truck pass concluding the evening on Friday and Saturday.
WHAT: CarSafe Dragpalooza VII presented by LenMar Motorsports, the first of 10 national events this calendar year for the American Drag Racing League (ADRL), but the second points-paying event toward the 2011 World Championship.
Series includes five all-professional, eighth-mile drag racing classes: Pro Extreme Motorcycle, Extreme Pro Stock, Extreme 10.5, Pro Nitrous and Pro Extreme, the quickest and fastest full-bodied, doorslammer class in the world.
Pro Jr. Dragsters also compete at each ADRL event, along with exhibition runs by a Police Interceptor jet car and the legendary Summit Motorsports “Bigfoot” monster truck.
