Chicago, Ill. -- After qualifying was completed at the NHRA Full Throttle Route 66 National Event for the Top Alcohol Dragster class, Chris Demke and Maddern Racing found themselves qualified in the pole position for Jeg’s Allstars competition and held on to the #3 position for final eliminations.
The Peen Rite/Clean Boost sponsored dragster was a very consistent car throughout most of qualifying and eliminations posting times of 5.332 to 5.371 on five of their seven passes down the track. Those times took them into the Semi Finals in both competitions.
“The car shook pretty hard in the first round of qualifying” noted Demke, “I pedaled it twice and it didn’t settle down, so I lifted.
“We came back to Q-2 and ran a 5.351 which was our base line for much of the rest of the weekend. In second round of Jegs, we banged the blower and the chutes came out. On Sunday, our first two rounds of eliminations, we ran within .005 on each pass at a 5.332 and 5.337.
“In the Semi’s of final eliminations, we ran a great race against the Ynot Team of Jim Whitely, but unfortunately, that was the end of our day. All in all however, we had a great weekend”.
The Peen Rite Team sends congratulations to the teams of Bill Reichert and Jim Whitely for their wins in Chicago.
