This morning, I was changing the oil in my Tundra (made in San Antonio, TX BTW) when my wife ran up hollering she wanted to show me something. In her college chemistry textbook, she ran across the following problem.
Top fuel dragsters and funny cars burn nitromethane as fuel according to the balanced combustion equation:
2 CH3NO2(l) + 3/2O2(g) (arrow) 2 CO2(g) + 3H2O(l) +N2(g) (delta)H°rxn = -1418 kJ
Calculate the standard enthalpy of formation (delta)H°f

She made the calculation, it was correct and now lords it over me. She then explained the chemical makeup of nitro exhaust, which pretty well explains why Connie and the Greek are still going strong. Pretty cool to see our little sport get some sunshine in a ridiculously hard college chemistry class.
