7.02 Nets Schnitz Eighth

Ryan Schnitz ran a 7.02 in round 4 of Pro Stock Motorcycle qualifying for the Fram Autolite Nationals at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California. That's a number that would have put Schnitz #1 at many weekends this summer, but only placed Ryan eighth in Sonoma. Four bikes made 6-second passes down the wine country quarter mile, making for the quickest PSM field ever.

8th Ryan Schnitz left lane 7.025 at 190.81 mph

"We had an ignition trigger failure in the third round, which caused us to slow down and not make a clean pass," reported Ryan. "We thought that the third was gonna be the round to actually make your pass, we didn't think the final round would be better conditions. However, we were wrong. We ran an .02 with our best guess as to the tune-up because we didn't have any data from the third round, or not very much usable data. Unfortunately, the .02 puts us eighth."

Schnitz faces number 9 Craig Treble in round 1 of eliminations. "We swapped motors after the fourth round of qualifying. We put 'Joey' back in, and we feel it's gonna be a little bit better for raceday.

"It's a really fast field, a really tight field. We're gonna make the best of it and see if we can go some rounds. We're gonna do our best and try hard."

Schnitz thanked Trim-Tex Drywall Products, Muzzy's, Schnitz Racing, Bates Leathers and NGK.
