Bakersfield, CA – It is finally here, the final event of the 2011 West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association’s schedule is this weekend (September 23-25) at the historic Auto Club Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, California. This season ending event is guaranteed to be filled with action as 12 of the quickest and fastest pro mod cars on the west coast will be in attendance.
Other than just the killer pre entry list, the 2011 champion will be decided during this event and the race is on between the current point’s leader (and 2x WCOPMA champion) Rod Burbage, Marc Meadors and Bret Williamson.
Behind Burbage by just a mere 29 points is Marc Meadors and his “Pure Hell 2” 1969 Camaro. Last year’s champion is only 33 points behind Meadors and a total of 62 points out of first place and that would be Bret Williamson in the Williamson and Gore Racing 1953 Studebaker.
All three of those teams listed above will definitely be in attendance and will be accompanied by some of the best in the west: Dan Nickelson, Joe Lepone Jr., Dan Myers, John Scialpi, Sean Renteria, Jay Diedrich, Lee Smith, Randy Walker and Scott Bailey.
Famoso Raceway has a brand new full quarter mile surface of smooth concrete that was laid down just before the beginning of the 2011 season.
All of our racers are looking forward to running at this track as it will be the first time the WCOPMA has raced at Auto Club Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield.
On Friday there will be an available test session from 8pm-12 (midnight) with the gates opening at 7pm. Saturday is when the action starts with three (3) qualifying sessions scheduled for 12 (noon), 2pm and 4pm.
Sunday will be the elimination rounds for the 8-car qualified field scheduled for 11am, 1pm and 3pm.
We would like to welcome a new sponsor to the association who stepped up for this event, Brandt Racing Enterprises. Gary Brandt stepped up when we needed to secure a few sponsors specifically for this event and we thank him very much! Check out everything they have to offer over at Brandt Racing Enterprises.
Also we need to thank a couple sponsors who have been with us all season that have stepped up for this event. Spec Rite Converters (Spec Rite Torque Converters), Pacific Repair Service Int’l, Inc., (commercial kitchen repair) and RBS Superchargers (Welcome to RBS Superchargers).
This is an event not to miss, or follow online, as any of the racers can play spoiler in this close championship chase. Follow the action all weekend on our website West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association or our Facebook page.
