What year was that? Like going to a National meet. I think the last 32 car race I saw was the Winternats in Pomona, maybe 1971 or 1972??? What year did NHRA go to a 16 car field?

The date was October 21st. The year was my favorite year for drag racing, 1967.

Be curious what $3000-to-win would be in todays dollars?

Cliff, it was indeed like a 1-day national event, just incredible how Lions could pull off an event this big in a single day and still get done it done before midnite. The category and race scheduling was second to none. Such an efficient program that is why Lions among other complimentary quotes always advertised themselves as the "constant action strip." Remember that quote in advertising Cliff?
