  • Returning to the bold black and “venom” green Carlyle Tools livery this weekend. Capps first debuted the striking paint scheme at the season-opening Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla. as part of a three-race campaign. The campaign highlights Carlyle’s recent rebrand, which reflects a new initiative geared towards reaching students and young technicians
  • Seeking his fifth consecutive U.S. Nationals final round appearance after securing back-to-back wins from the pole in 2022 and ‘23, and a runner-up finish in 2021 and ‘24
    • Ran a special Don Prudhomme ARMY tribute livery in 2024 one year after winning the series’ flagship event in the Hot Wheels car, which also honored his former boss. Capps’ 2023 triumph in the ‘Snake’ Hot Wheels car came 50 years after Prudhomme won the 1973 U.S. Nationals in Funny Car
    • Capps’ 2022 triumph – his first at the ‘Big Go’ – came after more than two-and-a-half decades of attempting to achieve a U.S. Nationals win
    • Capps’ 2024 final round outing was the 150th of his career
  • Participating in the PlayNHRA Funny Car All-Star Callout on Sunday, a specialty race-within-a-race, where Capps will start as the No. 3 seed
    • Capps hopes to be the first Funny Car driver to claim multiple PlayNHRA Funny Car All-Star Callout titles after winning the first Callout in 2022
  • Starting the weekend ranked fourth in the Funny Car standings and has the opportunity to move as high as second. The No. 2 ranked driver carries a 58-point lead over Capps

Quotable:
“You can feel it in the air; it’s time for the U.S. Nationals. I’ve always believed that the Indy Gods would decide when it’s your time to be the winner of the historic U.S. Nationals. For me, I waited 27 years of my pro career to finally hoist a trophy there and then I went back-to-back. I’ve also been fortunate enough to get to run some really cool paint schemes at Indy. We won our second Indy race in the legendary Don Prudhomme Hot Wheels car and came back the next year with the Don Prudhomme ARMY car and went to the final round. And this year, we get to run the bright green Carlyle Tools livery, which we started the year with in Gainesville and made it all the way to the final round there. So, to bring the Carlyle car back out at such a historic event is a pretty neat opportunity for our team. We felt like we should’ve won Gainesville, and now we have another chance to put the Carlyle Tools Toyota GR Supra in the winner’s circle at the biggest race of the year. We’ve been very successful there the past few years, reaching four finals in a row so we’re hoping to keep that streak going. We’ve got the Callout on Sunday and the race on Monday, and a lot of points on the line. For us, we have a chance to move up into second place, thanks to the points-and-a-half, and that would set us up well for the playoffs. Looking forward to a great home race this weekend for our Ron Capps Motorsports team.”
