KENT, Wash. (July 16, 2025) – Five-time NHRA Pro Stock world champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. is ready to defend his title at Pacific Raceways as he pilots the SCAG Power Equipment Pro Stock car into this weekend’s Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals.
Currently No. 8 in points, Jeg Jr. is chasing his first win of the season, he’s raced his way to one semifinal finish and picked up a Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge victory. He’s eager to kick off the now two-race ‘Western Swing’ with another strong performance in hopes of climbing the points standings. The passionate local fanbase and scenic setting of Pacific Raceways add to the event’s allure for Jeg Jr and his team.
“I have always looked forward to the Western Swing, even now as only Seattle and Sonoma, and returning as the 2024 Seattle champ makes it even more special,” Jeg Jr. said. “The picturesque backdrop of the Pacific Northwest also adds extra incentive, along with our local fans in the area and from SW Canada. We really want to perform at our best this week and tiptoe back up in the middle of the top 10 in points. We will have plenty of added support from our SCAG Power Equipment teammates and our local dealers and distributors that will be cheering us from the starting line.”
Jeg Jr.’s 2024 Seattle win was a highlight of a season that included five final-round appearances with four wins and a consistent push for the championship. This year, the Elite Performance team has continued to fine-tune the SCAG Power Equipment Pro Stock car, aiming for precision and power in every pass.
“Our team has worked week in and week out to improve the performance of our Elite Powered machines,” Jeg Jr. added. “Now we look to make efficient runs from Friday through Sunday and be the last one standing, again.”
Jeg Jr.’s 2024 Northwest Nationals victory was his second, his first came in 2002. Also with wins at Pacific Raceways from the Elite Motorsports cam are Troy Coughlin Jr. who drives the JEGS.com machine and won in 2022. Six-time world champion, winningest female in motorsports and driver of the Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage / Melling Performance / SCAG car, Erica Enders won in 2012.
Elite teammates Aaron Stanfield in the JHG / Melling / Janac Brothers car, his father Greg Stanfield driving the Janac Brothers / The Rod Shop machine and Pro Stock rookie Stephen Bell in his 1320 LLC ride are all looking for their first wins at the Northwest Nationals.
