BRAINERD, Minn. (Aug. 13, 2025) – Five-time Pro Stock world champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. and his SCAG Power Equipment/Outlaw Light Beer team are poised to deliver both on and off the track, combining fierce competition with an unforgettable fan experience at this weekend’s Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway.
The weekend’s festivities begin off-track with a meet-and-greet at Top Fuel Liquor, just outside the entrance of Brainerd International Raceway where the SCAG / Outlaw Light Beer Pro Stock car will be on display and Jeg Jr. will be signing autographs and taking photos with Outlaw Light Beer on hand.
“This year’s Brainerd event will be bigger and better than ever. We kick off the week with a meet and greet at Top Fuel Liquor just outside the track. We will showcase our SCAG / Outlaw Beer Pro Stock car as well as Outlaw’s finest cold beer,” Jeg Jr. said. “We will have a fantastic SCAG presence with our dealers, distributors and customers and our friends from Outlaw Light Beer will be on hand to take in not only the on-track action but the always animated activities in the famous Brainerd ‘Zoo.’
“Team SCAG, which includes the teams of Justin Ashley, Daniel Wilkerson and Dave Richards will also be parading through the Zoo with our SCAG Jackals loaded up with ice cold Outlaw Light beer to sample,” Jeg Jr. continued. “All this and we haven’t even hit the track yet.”
Coughlin, a 69-time NHRA Pro Stock national event winner, enters the 13th of 20 races in the 2025 Mission Foods Drag Racing Series with his sights set on adding another Wally trophy to his storied career. Jeg Jr. is already the winningest active Pro Stock driver at Brainerd International Raceway but a win this weekend would be his fifth and set him apart from any Pro Stock driver at the facility.
This season, Jeg Jr. has raced his way to a runner-up finish at the Northwest Nationals in Seattle and a semifinal appearance at the season opening Gatornationals in Florida. Most recently, Jeg. Jr. qualified eighth and had a quarterfinal exit at the Sonoma Nationals in Northern California.
Fresh off a thrilling Pro Stock victory at the NHRA Sonoma Nationals, Greg Stanfield and Janac Brothers Racing / The Rod Shop team are hoping to continue the momentum at Brainerd International Raceway. The veteran driver, known for his consistency and clutch performances, is riding high after securing his first win of the 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season, sixth in his career, but he’s keeping his focus on the work ahead.
“It feels great to have gotten the win in Sonoma, not just for me but everyone that’s involved in this Elite Motorsports program. I was just the lucky one that won,” said Stanfield. “I had a bet to pay off for being second on the tree, bought Aaron lunch on taco Tuesday following the race. But it was back to the grind at the shop when we got home. I think chugging that wine on the stage was enough celebration for me.”
Stanfield, who jumped from 10th to seventh in the points standings after his win, heads to Brainerd in a new Jerry Haas-built Pro Stock car as he chases his first professional win at the facility.
“Going into Brainerd I’ll be in a new Jerry Haas car. Everyone at Elite has been busting their tails to get it finished by this weekend. We want to put on a good show for these Minnesota fans,” Stanfield said. “My first race at Brainerd International Raceway was 1987 in Super Stock. It’s a cool place with some crazy fans that really love drag racing. Looking forward to having some fun, letting the clutch out and seeing what happens.”
Greg Stanfield’s son, Aaron Stanfield, who he defeated in the Sonoma Nationals final denying him a back-to-back win at the event, is chasing his first Pro Stock win at Brainerd International Raceway as well. Currently sixth in points Aaron and his Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage / Melling Performance / Janac Brothers Racing team, in addition to finishing runner-up in Sonoma, have had three semifinal finishes this season. They are currently on the hunt for their first win of the year.
Six-time Pro Stock world champion Erica Enders will be competing for a third win at Brainerd International Raceway. Her first two came in 2012 and 2015. The winningest female in all of motorsports is hoping to reach milestone national event win No. 50, 49th in Pro Stock, when she lines up on raceday.
In his new Midnight Edition JEGS.com hot rod, Troy Coughlin Jr. will hope to get into the winners circle for the first time at Brainerd International Raceway. Troy Jr. started his season with a win at the PRO Superstar Shootout specialty pre-season event and has been looking for a spot in the winners circle ever since. With three quarterfinal finishes, he is currently 12th in the points standings.
Returning to competition this weekend is the trio of Cuadra brothers. Fernando Jr., Cristian and David have been away on business and will be back in action for the first time since the Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, Tennessee four races ago when their Corral Tequila / Cuadra Belts / Cuadra cars hit the track on Friday afternoon.
The Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway start with four qualifying sessions Friday at 4 and 6:15 p.m. and Saturday at 1:15 and 3:45 p.m. with eliminations slated for Sunday at 10:30 a.m. with Pro Stock first round at 11:35 a.m. Television coverage of the event will begin with qualifying shows Friday at 10 p.m. ET and Saturday at 7 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1 (FS1).
