BRISTOL, Tenn. (June 7, 2025) – – Six days after winning his first race of the season in Epping, N.H., J.R Todd and his DHL GR Supra team won the Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge. The NHRA Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals is tomorrow at Bristol Dragway.

The 2018 NHRA Funny Car champion defeated Alexis DeJoria with a 3.987-second pass at 327.03 mph in the opening round of the Mission Foods Challenge and advanced to the final round to face Jack Beckman. Todd’s 4.004-second effort at 326.24 mph earned the DHL GR Supra team’s first Mission Foods Challenge win of the season.

Todd’s win also kept the Team Kalitta Mission Foods Challenge win streak intact. His teammates, Doug Kalitta and Shawn Langdon each have three wins in the event this season making Team Kalitta undefeated in the Top Fuel portion of the Challenge until today when Tony Stewart defeated Kalitta in the Mission Foods Challenge final round. With Todd’s win, Team Kalitta has a win in every Mission Foods Challenge so far this season.

“Momentum is everything,” Todd said. “We haven’t had a lot on our side over the last few years. The guys that are doing well, winning races, make it look really easy, but it’s not at all easy to win out here. We’re going to try and ride that momentum from last week into here, but the track conditions change from Epping to here is kind of a 180-degree difference.

“If we can come out of here with a trophy tomorrow, I think that’ll be a testament to the team I have behind me with Dickie (Crew Chief Dickie Venables) and the “Yella Fellas.” They grind it out and do whatever they have to do to win. It’s nice to pick up some extra points and money thanks to Mission Foods, and I have to thank the fans for sticking it out with the weather today. Hopefully we put on a good show for them. It’d be nice to parlay this into something big tomorrow!”

Todd is the No. 6 qualifier and will race Spencer Hyde to open Bristol eliminations. In Top Fuel, Langdon is the No. 3 qualifier in his Kalitta Air Careers dragster; he races Cody Krohn in the opening round. Kalitta is the No. 9 qualifier in the Aflac Top Fuel dragster and will race Josh Hart in Sunday’s first round.
