READING, Pa. (Sept. 10, 2025) – Six-time NHRA Pro Stock World Champion Erica Enders and her Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage / Melling Performance / SCAG Power Equipment Pro Stock team are charging into the NHRA Reading Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway, ready to launch their 2025 NHRA Countdown to the Championship campaign. Fresh off her milestone 50th national event victory (49th in Pro Stock) at the prestigious U.S. Nationals, Enders is poised to make a strong start in the six-race playoff series.
“I’m thrilled to have finally gotten the monkey off our back by winning 50,” said Enders, the winningest female in all of motorsports. “Now we can move on and get to work trying to turn this season around. Throughout winning our six championships, we have had seasons where we dominated from the start; we have also had seasons where we really relied on the Countdown and that’s just how this year has played out.”
As the first race of the NHRA Countdown to the Championship, the Reading Nationals is a pivotal moment for Enders and her team to set the tone for the playoffs. Enders has visited the finals at Maple Grove Raceway three times in 2021 where she finished runner-up to reigning world champ Greg Anderson, 2022 when she defeated teammate Troy Coughlin Jr. for victory and last year where she finished runner-up to teammate Aaron Stanfield.
“I absolutely love racing in Reading. The Koretsky family has done a fantastic job with the facility, and they most definitely know how to put on a race,” Enders said. “It always helps when racers are in charge, they know exactly what it takes.”
Enders enters the weekend sitting eighth in the points standings with her U.S. National victory catapulting her from the No. 12 position. She starts the Countdown to the Championship 94 points behind the lead.
“I believe it’s really important to start the final six races out on the right foot,” Enders added. “We know we have a lot to improve on, but my guys have been working incredibly hard and I’m excited to play with all the heart we have. We say game on.”
Teammate Aaron Stanfield and the JHG / Melling / Janac Brothers Racing team share Enders’ sentiment. Coming in as the defending winners of the 2024 Reading Nationals, Stanfield is eager to kick off the six-race playoff series with a strong performance and chase his first victory of the 2025 season.
“Like I’ve said before, coming into an event as the defending winner is a good feeling,” Stanfield said. “We’re still looking for our first win this season but seeing my dad win and then Erica getting that 50th in Indy. It’s all coming together. Turning the corner now means things just got a whole lot more interesting heading into the championship chase. It’s going to be a battle now for sure and this Elite Motorsports team is ready for the fight.”
Jeg Coughlin Jr. and the SCAG / Outlaw Light Beer team have a history of putting up a fight at the NHRA Reading Nationals. Jeg Jr. has won the event four times and coming in as seventh in points, adding to that tally could mean a major shift toward the championship.
Troy Coughlin Jr. and the JEGS.com team start their Countdown to the Championship battle from the No. 12 spot. Troy Jr. hopes past success at Maple Grove will play to his favor as he looks for his first win of 2025 to turn the tides of the season.
Greg Stanfield will begin his hunt for a championship from the No. 9 spot, after breaking through for the sixth Pro Stock win of his career at the Sonoma Nationals. Stanfield will be looking for his first win at Maple Grove Raceway.
Competition at the Reading Nationals begins with four qualifying runs Friday at 3:30 and 6 p.m. and Saturday at 1:30 and 4 p.m. with eliminations slated for Sunday at 11 a.m. Television coverage of the event will be on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) Sunday with a qualifying show at noon ET followed by eliminations coverage at 2 p.m. ET. Fans can catch all the action live on nhra.TV NHRA’s streaming service.
