Kalitta won the Mission Foods Challenge five times last season and took the overall title. He raced Maddi Gordon in a rematch of their Gatornationals semifinal. Kalitta made the second-fastest pass of the session, a 3.804-second effort at 330.55 mph to defeat Gordon in the morning session and reach the final against Antron Brown. In the final, with the track temperature above 135 degrees, Kalitta’s 3.924-second run at 308.64 mph was the quickest of the session, and the reigning Top Fuel champion claimed the first Mission Foods Challenge of the season.

Thanks to Mission Foods – we’re fortunate enough to do well in these, and I’m really glad we were able to keep it up. It’s fun to race on Saturday. It just brings an element to the fans to be able to see some racing. I hope everybody comes back out on Sunday after seeing some racing on Saturday.
