YPSILANTI, Mich. – – Earlier today, DHL Express and the 2025 “Race to End Hunger” partners donated two million meals to Feeding America and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, bringing the program’s overall six-year total to 14 million meals. With some 47 million people in the United States currently experiencing food insecurity, DHL Express, Kalitta Air, and Kalitta Motorsports united their efforts in the “Race to End Hunger.” The initiative provides critical hunger relief for families in need, both during the upcoming holiday season and beyond.

Hunger affects people of all ages; everyone needs nutritious food to thrive, and in every community in America, people are working hard to provide for themselves and their families. Yet in 2025, one in seven people experiences food insecurity in the United States.

For the past six years, DHL and its dedicated U.S. employees have been actively collaborating with local food pantries and the Feeding America® network of local food banks, as part of their annual volunteering and charitable-giving campaign. This ongoing program supports families in need while aligning with DHL’s mission of “Connecting People. Improving Lives.”

Combined with DHL’s corporate match of employee donations and its contribution to “Race to End Hunger” partner program with Kalitta, the company’s total contribution reached nearly one million meals. NHRA fan donations are also included in this total.

The other 1,080,000 meals were generated by DHL’s National Hot Rod Association relationships. Three years ago, DHL supercharged its efforts by partnering with Kalitta Motorsports and Kalitta Air to fight food insecurity nationwide, through the “Race to End Hunger.” This year, nine additional Kalitta partners joined the program, which generated even more meals. Over four years of this portion of the campaign, 3.83 million meals were donated to Feeding America and its network of food banks through the “Race to End Hunger.”

During the most-recent six NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series events, DHL, Kalitta Air, and Kalitta Motorsports, along with nine “double down” partners – Applied Innovation, BMRS, Dayco, Fifth Third Bank, Mac Tools, New Image Building Services, SoundGear, Superior, Toyota – made a substantial impact. For every “win light” achieved by Kalitta Motorsports drivers Doug Kalitta, J.R. Todd, and Shawn Langdon, which signified winning a round of racing, the group combined to donate 40,000* meals; 27 round wins generated 1,080,000 meals.

“There are few things more meaningful than coming together to help ensure families don’t go hungry,” said Nemer Abohasen, VP and General Manager at DHL Express and Head of U.S. Social Responsibility. “It’s deeply rewarding to join forces once again with our long-time partners Kalitta Air and Kalitta Motorsports in this shared mission. Each meal represents hope, dignity, and comfort for someone in need – and that’s what drives us to keep going. Together with our incredible partners, we’re making a real difference in the communities we serve, one meal at a time.”

“We are deeply grateful for DHL’s steadfast commitment, alongside that of all its partner companies, to our mission, and thrilled that this enduring collaboration empowers us to aid even more neighbors grappling with food insecurity,” said Roger Castle, Chief Development Officer of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. “The ‘Race to End Hunger’ initiative with Kalitta arrives at a pivotal moment, following the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and our partner agencies’ vital role in combating food insecurity through our core efforts, not to mention our response to the Greater Los Angeles Wildfires and the Government Shutdown.”

“It’s really hard to believe hunger is still such a big problem in our country, but we’re honored to do what we can to help,” Team Kalitta Top Fuel driver Doug Kalitta said. “’The Race to End Hunger’ is a really good program – it’s helping, but we all know there’s still work to do, unfortunately. Thanks to DHL, Kalitta Air and all our partners that jumped in this year to support a great organization like Feeding America and for helping fight this problem. Hopefully one day, we can end hunger in the United States.”

“We appreciate DHL’s leadership in this effort and thank them for helping fight hunger in our country,” Kalitta Air Chief Operating Officer Heath Nicholl said. “Kalitta Air was proud to be a part of this great program again this year, but seeing the end result with two million meals being provided is truly special. Unfortunately, much more work remains, but two million meals can make a difference.”
