Noteworthy:

  • Points leader Antron Brown and the AB Motorsports team enter the third event of the NHRA Countdown to the Championship carrying the momentum from their back-to-back wins in Reading, Pa. and Concord, N.C. near Charlotte
    • The Charlotte triumph was Brown’s fifth of the year, and 79th overall
    • By capturing his 63rd Top Fuel win last weekend (16 Pro Stock Motorcycle victories), Brown surpassed Larry Dixon’s 62 Top Fuel wins, and is now the second-winningest driver in the category
    • Brown won his second and third Top Fuel series titles in 2015 and ’16. During both of those championship seasons, he also powered to victory at the Reading and Charlotte events
  • Brown started the 2024 Countdown ranked fifth in the standings, and vaulted up to second following Reading, and is now in the points lead after his successful Charlotte outing
  • Occupying the top of the Top Fuel leaderboard, Brown is in the points lead for the first time since 2017. He is seeking his fourth NHRA Top Fuel world championship, and the first for his third-year AB Motorsports team
  • With five Midwest Nationals trophies, Brown returns to St. Louis as the winningest nitro-class driver in the track’s history
  • Brown will debut his pink ‘Tools for the Cause’ livery to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation at the St. Louis event. Each year, the Matco Tools team campaigns a pink ‘Tools for the Cause’ scheme throughout the month of October
    • Throughout October, 15% of the sales from select TFC items sold will be donated directly to BCRF
    • Since ‘Tools for the Cause’ began in 2012, Matco has donated over two million dollars to breast cancer research
    • The Breast Cancer Research Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to achieving prevention and a cure for breast cancer. They provide critical funding for cancer research worldwide to fuel advances in tumor biology, genetics, prevention, treatment, metastasis, and survivorship.

Quotable:
“We’ve had a lot of success in St. Louis, and we’d love to pick that winning streak back up there this weekend. Our first two races of the Countdown went really well and we’re just looking forward to another great weekend in St. Louis, especially with the jumpstart with our pink ‘Tools for the Cause’ car for Matco Tools. I always love coming out with the pink scheme every year, and we’ve had a lot of success with it. The best part is, it helps to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and we’ve been able to help raise several hundreds of thousands of dollars for cancer research. It’s always a special month, we all know someone who has been affected by breast cancer and our hearts and our prayers go deeply towards those that are fighting that fight and it feels really good to support the cause.”
